With the passing of Memorial Day it is officially the summer season, but if you are anything like me you are still trying to get your Spring cleaning done. I was really good about cleaning, purging and organizing my clothes, but those pesky desk drawers and file cabinets have been haunting me. The worst… that tech graveyard.
You know what I’m talking about. It’s that drawer or box that holds all the old devices that you no longer use but aren’t quite sure what to do with the items. Do you toss them? That seems like a waste after spending so much money on them - even if you are using the newer model now. Do you just keep them endlessly? Maybe but to what end? Do you give them to your little sibling or niece? Maybe, although chances are they have better tech than you do and would laugh at your dinosaur of an iPhone. Do you sell them? YES!!
When I purged my technology graveyard, I came across a number of old devices, including my battered iPhone 6, and decided to see what I could get for trading it in via Trademore. The phone was dropped when playing with my niece and nephews so there was a large crack across the screen and the screen had some edges of black from the dreadful fall. But it turned on. I followed the Trademore steps, indicated the type of phone, color, and condition - very poor - and they made an offer. $69 for my battered, pretty dead phone - Heck Yes!
After you accept the offer, Trademore sends you a pre-paid box to ship the device to them. My original box got lost in the mail and so the entire order needed to be canceled and the process had to be re-initiated, which added a few days to the process. After I got the second box, I cleared my iPhone, putting it back to factory settings and then packed it away in the box. A quick trip to the UPS store and off it went. Less than a week later, the $69 was deposited into my Paypal account. Easy. Peasy. And now I have $69 more than I had when that nearly dead phone was collecting dust in my tech graveyard.
Now I’m thinking I should try it with the old iPad I have. Beyond iPhones, Trademore also accepts smartphones of all kinds, tablets, and smart watches.
What do you do with your old technology? Have you thought about selling the device? Give Trademore a chance.

I genuine agree with the overall of theme of his article and I do believe that the technology products now days have a very short consumption period, just like an edible product. Looking around the house I can see dozens of things that I used for a few months and they are just lying around. It is time to sell some of them, before they become really useless.
