Emerald Green Full Midi Skirt

I’ve been on a midi skirt binge lately. There is something so easy and so feminine about this style that I find myself reaching for a midi skirt or dress multiple times a week. Last week for the start of school I wore a black midi skirt that was in my second Le Tote package. I loved it so much I couldn’t send it back. I needed to keep it.

This lovely green full midi skirt is a new acquisition and one that I am already obsessed with after only one wearing. The color is great - one that is going to be easy to wear through all four seasons, changing it slightly with the color and type of top I pair it with. It was easy to wear in this very basic style with a tucked-in t-shirt and a pair of heels. It’s also going to be really fun to wear with tights and booties when the leaves begin to fall and pumpkin spice is everywhere.

I’ll admit this isn’t always an easy style to wear. It can be unflattering depending upon the things paired with it, or it can be really flattering. It’s all about the pairing options. modcloth-green-skirt2

My tips for wearing a full midi skirt:

Go with a fitted top. If you opt for something with a lot of flow you will look boxy and will miss the cinched in waist that a full skirt is meant to give.

Opt for heels. When a skirt goes below the knee, it has the unfortunate result of stunting the length of your legs. To combat that, pair a midi skirt with a great pair of heels that are easy to wear and also make your legs look longer.

Don’t forget the slip, when needed. This green full midi skirt is really thin and picks up static quickly. A couple steps around my bedroom yesterday morning and I realized a slip would be needed to keep the skirt flowing as it was meant to and not clinging. (Personally, I think slips are the most underutilized fashion must.)

Oh, my fashionista-retired Polish teacher mom always wears slips and the full length ones mostly. I used to hate them and she was always rolling her eyes and scolding me for not wearing them as no self respecting woman should leave the house without make up, heels and a slip. But now I am a convert. She taught me that if a pencil skirt doesn’t come with a lining or the lining is made of synthetic material not silk you can go to the thrift store and buy an inexpensive out of style skirt from “another era when women always wore quality stuff” and move the lining to the new skirt. She is 74 and still one of the most elegant women I know.
