A Day in the Life of an Influencer/Blogger

When I tell someone I’m a blogger or an influencer, I often get asked the same few question… What do you do all day? How can I get free stuff? Is it the easiest job ever? Is it cool to make money and not have to work? Given all these questions, and the degree to which they usually annoy me, I figured I’d share a typical day in my life with you.

For your reference I’m cutting out all the family and personal things I do and just focusing on the hours I put into ModlyChic. Also, this is just one day from this week, but each day is a little different. This was how my Tuesday went down.

8:00 = Sit down at my desk and make a to-do list for the day. This includes all the things that must get done today as well as a couple bucket list items that I want to get to but can be put off if needed. (Okay, sometimes I prefer to work sitting on my bed.)

8:15 - 9:00 = Time on Instagram. During these 45 minutes, I post to my feed, and my stories. I respond to comments and DMs and leave comments on other people’s posts as well.

9:00 - 10:30 = Emails. This means responding to anything that has come in overnight or is pending for me to respond to. These emails include sending my media kit off to brands asking to collaborate, working out the details of an upcoming campaign, reading and signing contracts and NDAs, as well as sending information about a completed project, such as screen shots of the analytics and stats.

10:30 - 11:30 = Compose a blog post or two. This means writing the text, creating the Canva art for pinterest as well as Insta stories, and editing. This can also mean editing photos, tweaking them in VSCO, etc… Sometimes I can crank out two or three posts in the hour. Sometimes it takes me the whole hour to create one post. Post to Instagram stories at the end of this time. I had taken the pictures the day before, so this was easy to write and edit. No photography needed.

11:30 - 2:00 = Workout. This includes changing into gym clothes, traveling to the gym, getting in an hour-long Orange Theory Workout, traveling home, and showering. This was also a day in which I actually washed my hair, which takes longer. Post to Instagram stories twice in this time frame.

2:00 - 3:00 = Packages. Open, sort and photograph packages that have come in over the last several days. Honestly, I tend to open them as they arrive and then stack them up to be dealt with at a later time, because it takes a lot of time to work through them all.

3:00 - 3:30 = Drive to evening event in Glencoe in order to skip traffic and for a change of scenery.

3:30 - 5:00 = Work from Starbucks. This includes checking and responding to emails; and time on Instagram liking, commenting and responding. Posted to Instagram stories twice during this time. I also looked at the details of the evening s event in order to be well-prepared for what was to come, and what was expected of me.

5:00 -7:00 = Event Attendance. On Tuesday I attended an event at the Chicago Botanic Garden for Turks and Caicos tourism. It included meeting with fellow bloggers, and more importantly those working in the tourism field down there. Also took photos in the garden to share at a later time. Posted to Instagram stories of the event during this time.

The end of my influencer day!
