If you are a long-time gym goer you know this month is craziness at the gym. It is full of people trying to live their New Year’s Resolution, get that perfect vacation beach body, lose some pounds, gain some muscle, etc… All of those are awesome goals, but it does make for a really crowded space and the necessity of establishing new routines for your gym life. (Honestly the same goes if you are starting out at the gym for the first time this month - you have to battle the people and the uncertainty of the place.)
Whether new to the gym or a lifer, one of the things that I find myself constantly preaching to those who will listen is the importance of having workout clothing and gear that you actually like. Let’s be honest… Sweating, huffing and puffing while working out isn’t a high fashion moment. Most of us don’t feel particularly glamorous or feminine as the sweat trickles down your forehead. Add in clothing that makes you feel frumpy and it’s a recipe for an unpleasant time.
True confessions, when I first started working out I would throw on an old pair of basketball shorts and an oversized men’s t-shirt. I’d go workout, feeling gross and fat from beginning to end. It was an unpleasant experience. And while I admit the right clothing and gear doesn’t automatically transform your sweat session into a runway-worthy moment, it can help you feel a lot better in your skin and more confident in your workout.
This year, I snagged this embroidered yoga bag from Marleylilly to give my time at the gym a little extra boost. I pack it with all my gym gear the night before and throw it in my car when I’m heading out in the morning. That way, I am ready to hit the gym whenever I have a moment in my day. Sure, I could throw my things in a plastic bag from the grocery store, but there is something psychological about seeing a beautiful, personalized bag sitting in my back seat that makes me want to grab it and head to the gym.
The brand also sells monogrammed or personalized running shorts, leggings, yoga mats and all sorts of active gear - to step up your workout just a little.
