August already?! Where is the summer going? Since I am doing a lot more micro-blogging on Instagram, here is a list of my 10 favorite things from the month of July, which may or may not have made it into a full post on the blog.
This visual tour of Mexico put on my Cirque du Soleil is a colorful masterpiece. Music, dancing, twisting, turning, flying leaps, air ballet, and everything in between makes this a fun night out. If you haven’t made it to one of these shows it is so worth the experience. Bonus that my sister and I were there for the opening day which meant great treats at intermission and VIP tickets to some tasty margaritas and macaroons.
This tech fashion piece from Ashley Chloe solves the problem of all those annoying tangled cords bunched in the bottom of your purse or gym bag. The Helix Cuff is easy to wear and then when you need headphones, you unwind these wireless headphones from the band, pop them in and sync to Bluetooth on your phone. Simple. Chic. Functional.
THREE:: New Job
I started my new job as the Director of Marketing and Social Media, and it’s already been an exciting and bust first couple weeks. I’ve revamped all the social media accounts, made up a new tag line, started making plans for a new website, and all sorts of other things in between. I can’t wait to see what the year ahead holds in store.
On Sundays I’ve started playing around with new recipes and making things that are easy to grab in the mornings for lunch that day. My first really successful dish – this mango avocado salsa. It’s only got four ingredients (mango, avocado, cilantro and lime), but man is it delicious.
This Living Proof in-shower styler has turned me from a skeptic into a believer. You put it in while still in the shower, after your shampoo and conditioner, lightly rinse it out and then just ring/scrunch the water out of your hair. No need for more products. You’re ready to go just like that. I’ve been taking it to the gym to speed the process up of getting ready for work when I’m not at home. It’s a lifesaver. (I received this complimentary from Influenster and Living Proof, but all opinions are my own. This recaps are only the things I really really loved this month.)
I gushed about this in an entire blog post, so I won’t write paragraphs upon paragraphs about this fitness tracker here, but suffice it to say I am in love with it. The Mio SLICE has literally changed the way I think about working out and fitness goals. Just this morning as I was at the gym I kept checking my heart rate on the band to make sure I was getting in a good cardio-focused workout.
I’m beginning to branch out and try new mascaras other than my tried and true DiorShow and the one I tried and loved last month – Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara. This month it was a whole new mascara that makes my lashes look bold, thick and beautiful. I will say you have to apply it with a firm steady hand to prevent clumpy – which I hate – but Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara really does that it claims to. (I received this complimentary from Influenster and Living Proof, but all opinions are my own. This recaps are only the things I really really loved this month.)
I’m a brewery and microbrewery kind of gal. If there’s one near by that I can tour, you bet I’ve looked it up and planned a visit. So when a friend’s husband launched a brewery last month you can be assured I made it to the grand opening celebration. If you’re in the IL area, make a trip and check out Buffalo Creek Brewery. It’s in the midst of a quaint little town that you could spend the day exploring in between beer samples.
This bag from Mexico Boutique is too pretty not to tote around to the office, to the beach, to the store, to basically anywhere your day is taking you. Handmade by artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico this pretty black and white bag with the fun colorful tassel addition is a summer winner.
I love a good heel but sometimes you just want the comfort of a flat while still looking chic and put together. My latest closet acquisitions which are pretty much the shoes I reach for most mornings on my way to work are this pair of metallic silver flats from Pic and Pay, and the gold shoes from Yosi Samara. Both are amazingly comfortable and get compliments every time I wear them. I’m thinking the silver ones will be a year-round staple in my closet.
