Top 10 May Faves: from the blog, Instagram and life.

Due to the increase in micro-blogging on Instagram and a general lack of time to be writing full blog posts for everything I love, here is a list of my 10 favorite things from the month of May.

ONE:: Leopard Print Beach Bag

This pretty oversized bag from Cappelli Straworld  has already been going everywhere with me. It will no doubt make the vacation packing cut since I’ll want to bring it along to the beach and while I explore new parts of Boston.

TWO:: Daily Harvest Smoothies

Sometimes I’m every amazed at how blogging opportunities seem to come at exactly the right time for my life. There I was at wits end about my liquid diet thanks to a messed-up jaw and I am introduced to Daily Harvest and sent 6 free smoothies to try. What timing. These things are delicious and have helped me make it through the mornings in which creativity is lacking. (If you want to order some of your own, using the code MODLYCHIC at checkout will get you 3 FREE smoothies of your choice.)

THREE:: Puppies, puppies everywhere.

The month of May welcomed three puppies to the family. A fourth is on its way this weekend! Needless to say it has been a month filled with puppies. We get snaps in the middle of the night of them howling. One has his own Instagram account. I’ve been practicing my motion photography skills trying to catch them moving. My dad has been practicing his braiding by making leashes. Now I want a puppy of my own. Not going to happen but I’m going to be a really good puppy-aunt.

FOUR:: Wanderlust Fest

In the middle of the month Mona and I did this really amazing mindfulness triathlon. Running along Lake Michigan, outdoor yoga, and a guided meditation. You can read more about Wanderlust Fest on this blog post.

FIVE:: Wooden Accessories

I’ve always had a thing for wooden accessories – especially the earrings I picked up several years ago in New York. This month I expanded my wooden accessory collection with two new JORD watches and a pair of sunglasses with wooden arms from In Wood Company. The sunnies have been my go-to this month, and the watches have been on constant rotation on my arms.

SIX:: Ouidad Hair Products

Loving this collection of Ouidad products for my curly hair. I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner every time I cleanse my hair and the gel keeps my curls looking perfect from the time I get out of the shower until I wash my hair again days later.

SEVEN:: Straw Hats and Pompoms

This hat is just so pretty. I want to wear it every day inside and outside. I want to wear it to brunch and to the beach and to a beer garden. And anywhere else I can think of. You can check out the full OOTD post featuring this straw hat here.

EIGHT:: Fashion Sneakers

Loving how the fashion sneaker trend is everywhere these days and how it can easily be worn dressed up or casually. I’ve been having fun planning outfits with dresses and skirts to wear with these leopard-print Keds as well as a pair of bright pink tennis shoes I picked up a couple years ago from Target.

NINE:: Spring Days

I can’t even tell you how thrilled I was that May ended with warm weather and days filled with sun. It started off rough and cold. It felt like winter was going to last forever and perhaps I had packed away my winter items too quickly. In fact, several winter items I needed to pull out again just to make it through some of the colder days. But now we have flowers and sun and warmth.  Now I’m able to go out for walks in the morning and runs in the afternoon. Soon it will be beach weather and all the fun that goes with that.

And it wouldn’t be May without lots of flowers everywhere. I’ve had bouquets in my classroom almost all month. It helps brighten up the days, even when they are gray. And of course, they are just pretty to look at.
