Let’s be honest, at 15* today in Chicago it certainly does not feel like Spring will ever get here. But before we know it, the weather will change, the flowers will be sprouting and we’ll be transitioning our closets yet again. Each new season brings new trends, new colors and new style with it, but there are also a number of things that can easily be transitioned from one season to another so you can get the most out of your clothing items. Here are some Winter trends I’m loving and planning to transition into my Spring wardrobe.
5 Winter Trends to Transition into Spring:
This is hands down my favorite trend of the season and I want it to stick around for a year or two. It’s so fun and seems to immediately dress up any look. Transitioning this is simple. For the winter months, grab a blouse (like this bell sleeve poplin top from Century 21) that can easily be layered with a vest or thick blanket scarf. For the Spring swap the layering items out for a statement necklace.
These have been making a slow but steady emergence into popular culture over the last year and seem to have really made a name for themselves this winter. The backpack as a purse trend is here to stay for several seasons. Pick a color that will go well with winter outfits but will easily transition into Spring looks. I like this gray Adrienne Vittadini purse.
Another of my favorite current trends! These metallic sneakers are everywhere right now. They go well with a long pair of pants, and for the Spring they are going to transition really well into preppy looks with cotton dresses and cropped pants. So excited to see all the different ways these are worn and styled in the months ahead. Really liking these Silver Harrier Metallic Low Top Sneakers.
This trend has serious staying power. It was around last year, and it looks like it is going to be around another couple seasons with the new frayed edge look that is just now getting big. Wear the cropped denim look in the Winter with booties or even tucked into boots. Wear the cropped denim with a great pair of sandals or open-toed shoes in the Spring time. I really like this pair of Contraband denim with the cropped length and frayed edges.
Are they booties? Are they sandals? They are a little bit of both with the open back thanks to the slingback style. I’m starting to see these all over my favorite fashion Instagram accounts. For these cold weeks they work well with tights and in the Spring they are going to be great to wear without socks or tights. Great both ways and easy to transition without needing to pack away winter booties when the temperatures shift. These distressed leather booties with the slingback are adorable.
What are your favorite Winter trends that you plan to transition into your Spring wardrobe too? Have you found any great trendy pieces at Century 21 like the ones featured above?
