Six Times to Add Fruit to Your Day

The summertime is one of the awesome opportunities to begin adding more fruit to your diet. With all the seasonal options – strawberries, cherries, watermelons, blueberries, pineapples – it’s so much more appetizing to begin substituting fruit for any other less healthy alternatives. Beyond meals there are so many chances to add fruit to your day. Here are six of my favorite times to reach for fruit instead of something else.

6 Times To Add Fruit To Your Day:

Alarm Accompaniment: Forget the coffee. Go for a healthy, all-natural snack and a big glass of water when the alarm sounds. Some think an apple has the same get-up-and-go power as a great cup of joe. Why not treat your body to that great start of the day?

Mid-Morning Pick-Me-Up: I dunno about you, but if I’m in the midst of cranking out work, I’ll not get to lunch until late, which means I need a little mid-morning boost to keep plowing through and working hard. Pineapple is a personal favorite year-round but especially in the summertime. Right now, I’m loving the Del Monte Fruit Refresher in Pineapple with Passion Fruit Water. Plus, it’s easy to transport anywhere your day takes you – coffee shop, library, work.

Post Workout: After a solid workout, I always need a little extra something to keep me going. I’ll chug my electrolyte-filled drink and grab some fruit to replenish some of what was lost after a long hot run or a great spin class.

Afternoon Boost: Just like the mid-morning snack, a little afternoon boost is always great. There are some days that’s more needed than others. Depending on when I woke up that morning, when I fit in my workout, how much work I’m getting done, I’ll need one of these boosts. Since I’m usually out of the house in the afternoons, working elsewhere, it’s easy to grab a Del Monte Fruit refresher, perhaps the mandarin orange in coconut water. IMG_7230

Movie Time: Ditch the popcorn, what about something else that is easy to snack on? I big bowl of cherries or grapes fits the bill and is so much better than some buttery, salt alternative. (Not that I don’t love a little popcorn from time to time, of course.)

Late-Night Snack: Let’s be honest, the late-night snack craving usually means bad decisions. Chips or sweets seem so much easier than something healthy and when we are tired we tend to not make the logical decisions we might make in the middle of the day. Instead of reaching for something unhealthy, grabbing some fruit can be just as easy and just as fulfilling. The Del Monte Fruit Refreshers are always ready to go. Peel back the top and enjoy. No prep work needed.

Have you tried these Del Monte Fruit Refreshers? Will they help you add fruit to your day? What I love about them is how easy they are to transport around – no need to worry about leaking Tupperware (which always happens to me). Plus, they contain one serving of fruit at 100 calories or less, with no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, no artificial sweeteners, no GMOs, and are BPA intent-free. Win-Win! You can grab them at your local grocer
