This is a Fashionista Event Opportunity, and is hosted by Still Blonde after all these YEARS and yours truly! Mom and I were sent items to style and talk about.
When I was growing up, my mom was one of those women who never walked around in sweat pants or work out clothes. She never was the type to stay in her pajamas all day, even on the weekends. My mom always dressed up. Today she’s still dressing up, for no other reason than it’s a new day and it’s pleasant for her husband and kids to see someone who takes time with her appearance daily.
Most days she wears a skirt and some basic top. It’s become a bit of a uniform, because it works and is versatile enough for anything the day throws her way, whether it’s a meeting at Church, picking kids up from basketball practice, sewing a quilt or babysitting her grandkids.
Shirt: Coldwater Creek
Sweater: LL Bean
Scarf: a boutique in Cape Cod
Shoes: c/o Monroe & Main (Tamra Wedge Slide)
I blame her example for why most days I prefer dresses and skirts over pants. And of course she is why I never go out to anywhere but the gym in workout clothes.
Dress: c/o Monroe & Main (Paisley Flutter Dress)
Jacket: Ann Taylor
It’s Mother’s Day soon and all mothers deserve a little something special as thanks. Usually my siblings and I go in on a joint gift – painted flower pots, a new tree, a trip to Cancun, etc…
What are you getting your mom? Want to make your gift giving easier this year? Monroe and Main put together a gift basket for your mom. It’s got a number of great items including Toile Tote, Feather Leopard Scarf, Vanilla Amber Bath Set, Two-Tone Petal Necklace & Earring Set and Round-Crystal Rose Stretch Band Watch!!
Monroe and Main has a wide variety of clothing and accessory items that appeal to all age groups, as is evident from the fact that my mom is wearing a pair of blue wedge sandals from their shoe collection while I’m wearing a dress. Funny thing is the shoes are SO not my style and the dress is something my mom would never consider wearing. And yet the feather leopard scarf, part of the giveaway package, is something we both love and would wear styled in our own unique way.
Sidenote: This impromptu photo shoot put my mom in a shopping mood, so we spent the rest of the afternoon jumping around from shop to shop trying to find her a great Easter dress. I may have convinced her that one dress was just not enough and she should get all three that looked amazing on her. I know, I’m a bad influence. She was jealous of my new dress, even if the style wasn’t her.
