Ok, no. There is no Easter Parade in Milwaukee, however it is one of my favorite classic movies. With Fred Astaire and Judy Garland this flick is gold, and yes I did watch it on Easter this year. It seemed appropriate. I love that back in the day a new Easter dress and hat were essential to the holiday. And in New York, which still happens today, people would parade up and down the street showing off their new Easter finery.

I didn’t get a new Easter bonnet this year – hats and I don’t usually get a long – but I did get this amazing maxi dress just in time for Sunday. The long maxi, with multiple, perfectly matched pleats ended up being the perfect ensemble for the day. Finding the right top proved more challenging and I ended up going with a cotton shirt with a scoop neck and slightly puffed sleeves. I didn’t want to overwhelm the skirt with an equally eye-catching top.
The sea foam green accessories – earring, necklace and shoes – were the perfect addition. And if the 70* weather didn’t put me in a Spring mood, the fun color certainly did. I kept my makeup basic but went with a vibrant pink lipstick, figuring it was time I jumped into that trend and tried to pull it off. Still not sure I’m cut out for bold lips.
What did you wear for Easter? Did you buy something new? Something a little special?
Oh and I hosted dinner… check out the table I set, complete with rabbit ear napkin folds. The mostly-paleo menu included: ham, orange marmalade carrots, egg/bacon/mustard-covered asparagus, Hawaiian rolls (because I couldnt resist), and a paleo cheesecake with strawberries. Yum!
