I finally broke out of the denim rut I’ve been in by forcing myself to start an outfit with this skirt and think a little outside the box. Once I added the geometric tunic and tucked it in to create a more structure silhouette, I grabbed the bright mint pumps that have been sitting in my closet for months just waiting to make their outfit debut. Both the cobalt and mint colors are in the top so I liked that combination. Plus, I thought it was fun how the skirt and shoes played with the color blocking trend. The scarf is because mornings have been chilly these days.
This geometric top has turned out to be one of the most versatile pieces I have in my closet – and have had for years! I’ve boldly paired it with a pink skirt and striped blazer and wide-legged pants as well as skinnies, black dress pants, and a wrinkled pencil skirt. I’ve layered it under a long vest and a LBD. Ok, I’ll stop there… I’m sure there are more than these seven posts with the geometric tunic as a feature but I won’t list them all. I love how there are some clothing pieces you can buy for a single season, but end up loving for many seasons to come. I don’t think I ever thought this simple and inexpensive H&M tunic would still be in my closet four years later, but it is and I still love it.
What do you have in your closet that has been there for years and you still love? Leave a comment and let me know.
Tip: To make things last as long as possible, take good care of your clothing. Keep it hung during the ‘in’ season and properly packaged if you have to put it away for several months. Make sure to remove stains promptly and launder with care.
