Do you ever have a clothing item that sits patiently at the back of your closet for you to pull it out and remember how much you loved it? The item knows that when you finally do get around to slipping it on again you will be finding dozens of different ways to wear it. The item, which was previously doing nothing more than taking up precious closet space, will suddenly become essential. This black leather jacket is that item for me. I had it literally up against the wall in the back of my closet. Forgotten. Neglected. Then I pulled it out to winterize a summer dress and suddenly I find myself reaching for it almost daily. Pair with jeans? Yes. Over a floral summer dress? Yes. Layered with a t-shirt and long maxi skirt? Yes.
I wore this outfit to a college basketball game of my sister’s and then dinner out at a nice German restaurant in town. I wanted an outfit that was feminine but still had a bit of an edge. The soft, sheer, flowing pink top worked perfectly under the harder lines and hardware of the jacket.
Tip: Pull out a forgotten but loved item from your closet and get to re-mixing it. You’ll re-discover your love for the piece and find new ways to wear it after weeks/months of neglect.
