I’m a Shaklee180 Blogger

by katyrose on February 15, 2013

As I mentioned in my New Year’s resolution post, one of the things I want to do this year is get back in shape, back into marathon running, back into focusing on healthy lifestyle decisions. As part of that decision I joined a gym and am trying to carve out at least three significant workouts each week. I’m trying to challenge myself to try out the different classes and to not be embarrassed to lift weights in front of others.

The second step is to begin focusing on healthy food choices. Cutting back some calories, opting for natural foods over heavily processed ones. As part of this decision I took a random leap and applied to be a Shaklee180 blogger. The program will take 90 bloggers and walk them through a 6-month period of using the all-natural Shaklee products. To be honest, I entered on a whim and thought there was no way I would be selected. Since I’m not technically overweight I figured my application would be looked at and then quickly discarded for those who would be able to benefit more from a program like this.

But I was wrong. Out of nearly 500 applicants, I’m one of the 90 selected bloggers! The crazy thing is… the bloggers participating are seriously diverse. There are women who are looking to lose more than 100 pounds. There are women who want to take control of their lives and their health because of serious medical issues due to their weight. There are women who want to fit back into the prom dress they wore 10 years ago, or ones who want to look amazing for an upcoming wedding. Some want tone up and have a small weight-loss goal. It’s amazing to see all of the bloggers sharing their hopes for the next 6 months and beyond. I’m seriously already inspired by this amazing group of women.

This should be an interesting experience. I have NEVER in my life done any type of weight loss program. Prior to this I focused on eating right and working out to get rid of a few unwanted pounds. In fact, I have often rolled my eyes at friends who went from one fad diet to the next, seeing little results and becoming more frustrated with their bodies in the process. The thing I already like about the Shaklee program is that it is not claiming to be a quick-fix, drink this and you’ll be thin scheme. They emphasize the importance of making the right eating decisions, going with natural products that are good for your body, and working exercise into your week. It’s a much more holistic and well-rounded approach to health.

Details… Everything is still getting ironed out, in terms of official contracts, etc… But the six months begins on March 1st and will go through the end of August. The participating bloggers will be provided with samples of the Shaklee product, support from the team and some other un-named incentives to keep up the momentum and to stay focused. There is also a grand prize trip to a spa in Austin and a $2,500 shopping spree! (yes, please!!)

Hey Katy Rose! Looking forward to getting to know you and your blog over the next several months! Sounds like our goals and expectations for #Shaklee180 are similar. I’m signed up for what will be my third half marathon ever – 1st since baby #2, nearly 16 months ago.

I’m with you! I’m so excited to see what Shaklee can do for me. I’ve been working on what I can on my end, but I definitely need more. I’m in the wanting to tone and not lose a ton of weight, but there is definitely fluff that needs to go away. I want to one day wear a bikini! One day…. Can’t wait to see how we all come through this journey – together!

I didn’t see the information to sign up until too late but good for you for putting in an application and congratulations on getting a spot against what was most likely very tough competition. Good luck reaching your goals.

I’ll be interested to hear how this goes.
A few years ago, I tried the online Weight Watchers and did really well – lost 40 pounds and was eating healthier.
Then my treat-loving boyfriend started showering me with sweets… and potato chips…
Sigh. No resistance.

It really is exciting, isn’t it, seeing just how many different stories are involved in this program we’re all in together. So much diversity, so many reasons why for one reason or another we’ve let ourselves slide. I know we’ll all surprise ourselves, and I can’t wait to get started.
