Scouting for Black Skinnies

by katyrose on January 10, 2013

Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to find a pair of great-looking black skinnies? The straight-legged black Paige denim pants I miraculously found at a clothing swap are nearing the point of no return. I’ll get another couple months out of them but the color is fading from all the washing and wearing, the hem is fraying from rubbing against my shoes.

These black skinnies from Liverpool Jeans arrived just in time to be the perfect substitute. The material is a little thinner than what I would call classic denim, but that makes them much more comfortable to wear all day long. For the average-height person these will be long enough to wear heels. For me and my long legs, they are perfect for flats or tucked into boots. I also like how they are skinny jeans without stopping circulation. There are some pants in stores now that literally are like compression hose, no matter the size you try on. HA!

Liverpool, also sent me a pair of boot-cut blue jeans, which I also like. Again, for me they are too short to wear with heels, but they work just fine with flats. The company’s jean collection is pretty extensive. You can get skinny jeans, boot cut, straight-legged, etc… and all in a variety of colors and styles.

Totally random, but another thing I adore about these jeans, is that the inside material of the pockets has a British flag and a Beatles quote! I love the detail on a part of the clothing that no one will see but the person slipping them on.

Tip: Don’t settle for mediocre skinny jeans. Go for ones that fit you and your needs perfectly, even if it takes some serious searching.

I hear you on finding skinnies that fit just right! What a pain!! Those look great on you, and I like the length a lot. With the right heels, they might work, because they hit you right at the ankle… I think they’d look great with a basic black pump. I love the way you styled them too… all monotone, but with a ton of texture. Fantastic!

Super cool about the inside too! I love details like that… not only is it fun, but I feel like it shows extra care went into making the item.

I spent the whole day at the mall looking for new skinnies… no exaggeration 9AM to 7PM and a countless number of stores visited. I’m glad you found something that works for you :)

It’s hard to find a good pair of black jeans. These are very flattering, and could even go with a ‘sparkly’ top for a night on the town.

Absolutely! I think so many times women buy something that is just alright because they don’t want to keep looking or they become totally frustrated with the entire process. But by waiting and being picky we will be so much more confident in what we are wearing.

I hate trying on jeans, but my black skinnies are starting to look quite washed out, so I’ll need a new pair soon! Levi’s Curve ID has proven to have a good fit for me, so I think I’ll go for that. Funny things is that I know that in the US, Levi’s is a quite reasonable priced brand, whereas here in Norway it’s quite expensive, something like USD 130!

It amazes me that the prices points can vary so drastically from one country to another. When I was in Spain everyone shopped at Zara because it was very inexpensive. When they began opening here the prices were much higher than over there. So interesting.

Sarah – I think the courage to wear skinnies comes have the right top to wear with it. If they scare you try for a top that has a little more volume. I like to wear mine with ong sweaters since they add a little extra coverage and personal security. – Katy

How cool that they took the time to put some special details into these jeans – pockets dedicated to the Beatles is pretty cool in my book. I love the fact that you mention that these skinny jeans are the prefect fit not like some out there that even stick figures can barely wear.
Love the look and color of their Lucy Bootcut – Senegal and I do need a new pair of jeans.

Felissa – If you are in the market, give them a try. I’m loving both pairs they sent me, but the skinnies are my fav.
