It’s the New Year and of course with all the usual resolutions, goals and expectations, I’m also setting some beauty goals for the year ahead. These are small changes but ones that I am excited about working on during 2013.
- Wear red lipstick. I’ve been attempting to ease into this for a couple years now. For someone who rarely wears anything on her lips, other than the occasional swipe of chapstick, this is more difficult than one would expect. To me, every time I put on lipstick I feel like a 5-year-old kid who just got into her mother’s lipstick collection. She knows the red color goes on her lips, but it always seems to go a little awry. I’m getting better at it and hopefully soon I’ll no longer hesitate in the morning.
- Grow my hair out! I know, I know, I say this ALL the time. But this is the year. No giving in to promotional haircuts for my favorite stylist (well now that there are a couple hundred miles between us that will also deter things a bit). No more getting fed up with the inbetween periods and lobbing it all off. No more pinning cute pixie cuts. I’m going to continue growing my hair out, and getting it trimmed only to give my haircut some structure. So, far it’s working. The below pics are from my hair in August and then at the New Year. (My hair grows fast. I had three haircuts in those five months.)

- Wash my face twice a day. I’ve gotten better over the years at washing my face every night. But it should be done twice a day, according to the experts. So I’m going to try and take better care of my skin during 2013.
- Drink more water. I will say I feel healthier and my skin looks better when I am drinking a good amount of water daily. Less coffee more water – that should be my mantra.
What about you? Are you setting any beauty goals for 2013?

At first I was thinking I wouldn’t have any beauty goals since I am a low maintenance girl but I am bad for not washing my face and even without wearing makeup it’s important so that’s a good goal for me too.

If you don’t like the red lipstick when you look at it, you are wearing the wrong shade. I have found that if I put my favorite color of lipstick under a red that isn’t working for me, often the red becomes just the right shade..give it a try with several that you DO like. BTW, you look fab in the one in the picture
You really DO have a face for short hair…not to say long hair won’t work.

My resolution is to wash off my makeup EVERY night.
I had my hair really short once. It was really hard to grow it out. Good luck!

I think I share your goals; I would love to drink more water and wash my face more often. I have also been thinking that I should focus on taking my make-up off as soon as I know that my day is technically over and I won’t be leaving the house again… that would feel great!

Great goals! I need to do the same. I’m so good at washing my face at night, but I need to do it in the morning too.
