Day One on the Job

Picking an outfit to wear for day one of a new job was a bit of a challenge when I haven’t had an office job in over 5 years. Between freelancing and the job I had in Boston, there wasn’t much need for professional attire. And while there is plenty in my closet that could be turned into a business wardrobe, I wasn’t exactly sure what look I was going for. As with the interviews, I opted for creative yet professional. The cobalt skirt and pink bauble necklace is a little less biz-oriented and more on the creative side. The boyfriend blazer added a touch of professional flare while still being very me.

The outfit worked even better than I expected, especially because that first night I suddenly had a work event to go to. The skirt and necklace were the perfect look for the evening meal. The only trouble is, now with my new schedule, getting outfit shots is nearly impossible. I’m going to need to figure out a better schedule for taking these shots and perhaps a new location.

I’m pretty obsessed with this pink necklace from TrendSnob! Have you heard of the company? The idea is innovative and fun – Facebook auctions for amazing jewelry items. One item each day. Winners are based on the order of comments made for the item. The company has its first auction on November 15th and will have one a day from that point on.

Tip: Go ahead and pick a bold necklace, especially if your top is basic and one-toned.
