Well, I think it is official! It is Fall now. The leaves are changing on the trees, the mornings and evenings are chilly, oh and there are Christmas decorations hitting the shelves! I went for the most spectacular hike yesterday along the Milwaukee River. As you can see from the picture I snapped, the trees were amazing! (Follow me on Instagram to see more pics: ModlyChic.) I haven’t transitioned my closet yet, but I’ve begun to incorporate fall items into my daily clothing choices.
This skirt, from Mountain Khakis, is the perfect fall piece. It is a light cord material that adds warmth without bulk. The navy blue goes with a number of colors and can be dressed up or dressed down. When it really starts to get cold I could see it paired with leggings and a great winter sweater. For now, I’m sticking with layering since the afternoons can still get up to 70*. The off-white motorcycle jacket is an easy choice to add over the purple shirt with the decorative neckline. The cowboy boots… I didn’t wear them much out on the East Coast but being back in the Midwest I feel more justified in wearing them. When I first arrived, the weather was still hot and plenty of people were walking along in cowboy boots and sun dresses.
Mountain Khakis is the sponsor for the Fall Fashionista Giveaway Event Lookbook! It’s October first and you know what that means? The HUGE giveaway event is less than two weeks away! Get excited. I’ll be teasing some of the items up for grabs in a Lookbook post soon!
Tip: For the beginning of fall think of layering with the idea of losing the top layer in the middle of the day when the temperatures rise. AKA don’t wear a tatty shirt under your sweater/jacket layer.

I love this look! That skirt looks great on you–just the right length and fit. You look so tall and leggy! Love the sequins on the top with it–dresses it up a little without being over the top. Everytime I see a look like this I find myself wanting a cream leather jacket… but I don’t think a light jacket and I would get along haha. The boots work with this, making it a little casual but still chic.

If you want to make someone fall in love with you, you’ll have to fall in love with yourself first. Just as, if you want respect, you must demonstrate self-respect, no one worthy of your time is going to surrender their heart to someone who can’t even impress themselves.
