Win it… The Definitive History of Style and Costume

by katyrose on October 27, 2012

Giveaways are becoming a regular thing on ModlyChic and I love that! It’s great to be able to give back a little something to my readers.

This time, I’ve got an amazing new fashion book for you to win and details of how to enter a $1,000 shopping spree giveaway! Perfect for the upcoming holidays and never too early to begin thinking about gifts for those special people in your lives.

You can enter to win The Definitive History of Style and Costume.  Seriously, doesn’t just the name beg to be picked up and flipped through? This DK Smithsonian coffee-table book retails for $50 and it can be yours to keep or give away to the fashion-minded person in your life. I plan on adding it to my fashion book collection.

From the publisher…” Containing everything you need to know about changing fashion and style — from ancient Egyptian dress to Space Age Fashion and Grunge — and information on icons like Marie Antoinette, Clara Bow, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Alexander McQueen, Fashion catalogs the history of what people wear, revealing how Western fashion has been influenced by design from around the world and celebrating costume and haute couture.”

And it gets better, as an entry option you can head over to Fashion Week Daily and enter for a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree to celebrate the release of the book.

The giveaway is open to US residents only. You can enter using the rafflecopter form below. Good luck and stay tuned for future giveaways on ModlyChic!!

Favorite era of fashion is a tough one! There are pieces from a lot of eras that I like – some of the modern stuff can be really wild and fun (and less restrictive), but there are some really gorgeous gowns from the 1800s, and even earlier (for the very wealthy, of course!).

I would say the 50′s because everyone looked so gorgeous!

My favorite era is the 50s. Love the ladylike looks and the celebration of the female figure.

Mine would have to be the 40s. I just love how a female’s curves were celebrated.

I think I like the current era best. Fashion isn’t just ever-changing, but now it’s about the freedom to wear what you want how you want. Trends are still present, but it’s more about expressing yourself using everything from cheap Forever21 items to vintage Chanel, and mixing and matching so that you’re YOU. I love it.
