Have you ever looked in your closet and suddenly realized that you have a collection of a certain color or pattern that you didn’t even know you were collecting? Maybe it’s the latest trend, or something you just feel drawn to. But all of a sudden a large part of your wardrobe contains that color/pattern.
The first time I noticed this was with stripes. In college I had a thing for button-up striped shirts. I owned them in pink, gray, blue and green. Shirts from Express, New York and Co., Old Navy and Kohls. When I finally kicked the habit and purged the dreadful shapeless items. I began a two-year obsession with gray. Sweaters, t-shirts, pants, tank tops… whatever it was I probably owned at least one in gray. Blue and then black quickly followed. But now… now, my sudden wardrobe color invasion is coral. I didn’t realize it was happening until all of a sudden I had jackets, t-shirts, skirts and dresses that all contain coral. Oddly enough, it is not the most flattering color most of the time so I am constantly looking to pair it with colors that are more complimentary to my skin and hair tones.

Tip: Try to diversify your wardrobe and clothing purchases so that you don’t have one color that dominates.
