Beaded Cuffs and matchy-matchy

by katyrose on September 14, 2012

This bracelet might be my new favorite accessory. Arriving just in time to ring in the final days of summer, I’ve been trying it on with most outfits in the morning trying to see how to best wear it and what it looks best paired with. Eventually I decided my best bet was to start with an old, go-to of black and white, using the teal as an accent to the classic color combination.

I ended up picking a pair of earrings and shoes that matched the bracelet, in order to bring a little more color into the outfit. A friend mentioned that I happened to be all match-matchy today and how she tried not to be that way. I laughed and responded saying I avoided the matchy matchy of purse with shoes and skirt, but matching accessories I liked to work with. To me it gives an outfit a final polished look.

What do you think? Do you match your accessories from time to time or is that over the top?

Tip: When picking earrings to matchy a necklace or bracelet you don’t need to worry that the color or style style matches perfectly. Go for things similar in shade or shape.

I do match occasionally. It can be a crisp and clean look, if not overdone (like most of us did in the ’80s). They key is restraint… which you’ve balanced here nicely!
