Yesterday marked my one month anniversary of arriving back in Milwaukee! Crazy to think I have already been here four weeks. I feel like I am still trying to get my feet on the ground here and yet thinking back over the last month I realize I’ve already done a lot!
Of course, in the first days I was here I HAD to visit a few staples… Kopps Custard could not be put off. I’ve been twice already and have October 2nd marked on my calendar because it is Snickers Cheesecake day!
On my first full day here I walked through Marquette’s campus, picked up a copy of the student newspaper, stopped by the ever-gorgeous Joan of Arc Chapel and strolled through the Student Union. Oh the memories.
I’ve discovered new running and biking paths along the lake. The view and variety certainly makes it easier to no longer have the Charles River to run along. The Oak Leaf Trail is a biking favorite.
When I lived here in college I never made it to the Art Museum, so I made sure to take advantage of the Labor Day weekend to stop by and see at least half of the place. They had a special exhibit about French posters, which was excellent. And the Disney kid’s section sponsored by Kohls was the most fun part to walk through.
What Milwaukee lifestyle would be complete without beer? With friends I discovered the Milwaukee Ale House and tried a flight in order to get in a taste of some of their staples. For my birthday we went to the Lakefront Brewery. The tour was mostly about the history of beer and was pretty entertaining. They gave me a free beer for my birthday and five tokens to cash in for drinks during and after the tour. (Not many tours you can drink while going on the tour!)
I’ve made a couple trips to Madison to see friends who live and go to school out there. I forgot what a fun college town it is!
And of course there are the amazing sites to see around town. The great architecture that is every where, the sun setting and rising over the lake, and the changing leaves on the trees.
I finally got around to starting the Milwaukee Bloggers group! I hope this one will be as great as Boston Bloggers. It’s just a Facebook group at the moment but we are going to have a meet-up soon and hopefully that will be the first of many fun networking opportunities. Yay #MKEBloggers
Can you tell I’m infatuated with my new city? Now if only I could secure an equally amazing job!
