Pink Feathers

by katyrose on July 24, 2012

Back to back media presentations had me worried about what to wear for the second time in a week. This time, I went with my usual penchant for black and white, pairing a pair of ultra wide-leg pants with this breezy top. The look was good and comfortable but it needed something more to make it really pack some punch. I grabbed the pink feathered necklace, which I had for a while but had not figured out how to wear on a daily basis. Combined with pink tinted earrings and I was good to go.

To be honest, I liked the bright pink necklace paired with the black and white top. It worked for the presentation and garnered some fun and funny comments along the way, which is always a good thing. But I’ll be honest, later that day I was running errands in Boston and got one sideways look from a guy I was passing, and I almost took the necklace off. For some reason I suddenly felt like I was wearing some crazy ‘LOOK AT ME’ sign or something. I tamped down the urge to remove the necklace and kept going about my business. Why? Well, two reasons really. I want to become more bold in some of my pairings, and I like this necklace so why shouldn’t I wear it? And two, why should I let one look from a total stranger determine my clothing choices?

Tip: Take chances with your dressing and hold your head high when you rock your new look. Others and their opinions don’t determine your worth.

Like that black and white print. I always love that classic combination and adding some pizzazz with a bright color. Good job on owning your ensemble! – Carla

More often than not this blog feels like What Not To Wear instead of a fashion blog. Try those pants with something fitted, not voluminous. And that necklace looks like something a 12 year old would give up, realizing it is too immature for her.

I like the boldness of the necklace, and the pairing with the B&W shirt. It makes it pop and give it some texture without being too much color and cartoony. I have a similar pair of earrings, with one that’s long and has some pink feathers, and another that’s just a plain gold stud. I haven’t worn them yet because I’m not quite comfortable with the idea, but I think I’ll give it a shot this weekend and see. I like the one long earring look and can prob pull off being so bold.

I think you pulled the look off nicely, and like your attitude regarding the strange guy who looked at you funny. There’s always one… and sometimes, it’s someone we know. Other times, it’s not. I personally am not a fan of wide leg pants on me, but that’s because they make me look really short and stumpy. I think they look nice on you. The top is one I don’t recall seeing before… can’t wait to see how else you style it!

Katy- you’re awesome. Anonymous has issues. Freakin troll. Yep, we all are entitled to our opinions, but when you post anonymously, it’s obvious there’s some anger and issues behind them.

Yeah…no. Anon is right. Your style is consistently laughable. I would add, you’re also a shitty writer.
