Last week I attended the SnobSwap, hosted by the always adorable Swapaholics of Swap.com. The premise of the swap was a little different from the usual loads of things to dig with. Each attendee was supposed to bring two items that were either vintage or designer. The Closet Boston contributed several items so that each person could head home with three things – two from other attendees and one from the consignment shop. I scored this Topshop jacket as well as an Elizabeth and James jacket (although that one is better suited for the spring months.)
As soon as I added the jacket to my closet I knew how I wanted to wear it. Last week, on some TV show which completely escapes me at the moment, one of the characters was wearing the floral Tucker for Target dress that I own. She had winterized it with a long-sleeved cardigan and leggings. Inspiration hit. I could add this new jacket to the floral pattern to make it more cold-weather appropriate. Add skinny jeans, a pair of tall boots and it’s an outfit.
Tip: See something inspiring on a TV show? Take note and then think about how you can recreate the look with what is already in your closet. You’ll be surprised what you can come up with.
