Final Jane By Design Style Challenge

by katyrose on January 4, 2012

Did you catch the season premiere of Jane By Design last night? The clothing alone made it worth watching. And if you missed it, you can catch the pilot episode at ABC Family. For the final challenge, we were asked to recreate a look seen during the show. While there were many stunning looks, and certainly more than a handful of things I’d love to wear on any given day, I opted to go with the outfit Jane is wearing when she gets the job and hears her salary. It’s an adorable young look, and Gray even compliments her on the red studded belt she’s wearing. Here’s a close-up of the look, thanks to the ABC Family website:

One of the things I love most about Jane’s look is her curls. They are fun and flirty without looking like she spent hours curling them – even if she probably did. To get that look takes some serious time and commitment on your part but it is so worth it. Check out this video on how to achieve the bouncy curls with a simple flat iron.

For the outfit, I love how she pairs the patterned top with a ballerina-inspired skirt. Add some great accessories and she looks like a million bucks or at least enough to impress Gray. I recreated two looks based on the principles Jane used on this outfit. Unique black skirt, patterned top and bold accessories. This polyvore has me wanting to try the look for myself – now to see what my closet holds to create something similar.

And last, but certainly not least: Jane’s makeup. Throughout most of the show she’s got a great look going, that is just a little more than the natural look, but nothing over-the-top for a high school student to wear every day. Coming up with the perfect mix of natural colors and a little additional expressive tones around the eye is often easier said than done. Check out the video below to get a natural glam look just like Jane’s:

Alrighty… that’s in for how to snag Jane’s look. Did you see the show? Were you impressed by any one outfit? Re-create the look and let me see what you came up with. You can also post it to the Jane By Design Facebook page and say ModlyChic sent you.
