Hobo Bags and Vacation Days

Today is my last day in Boston for three weeks. I’m heading out to sunny California for a little vacation and to take a class. After the last couple weeks of insanity and little sleep, the vacation is much needed. Since I’m really trying to take this time to re-coup and re-energize myself I’ve asked a number of blogger friends to guest post on ModlyChic while I’m away. I’m likely to pop back in on occasion with some outfit posts, but for the most part I’m giving the floor over to these stunning ladies. (Ok well, tomorrow’s post is on packing light, so Wednesday will start the guest posting.)

I look forward to coming back to ModlyChic refreshed, re-energized and ready to tackle the blog with a whole new outlook and attitude. For those of you FBFF participants those posts will still go live every Friday as usual. Oh the joys, of pre-posting.

Tip: There is nothing wrong with stepping away from it all to focus on you and what really matters.

Dress: Target
Cami: Forever21
Shoes: Payless
Bag: BambooBlue
Earrings: Francesca’s Collections

PS… What do you think of this bag? Adorable – right? Two of my younger sisters are trying to raise money for a service trip they are taking at the end of the summer, so after a little thought they decided to put the family’s creative bent to good use and make these reversible hobo bags. They spent the last month cranking out bags and have now created at Etsy shop, called BambooBlue, to showcase their creations. I’ll be taking this one with me to California, since it is perfect for the beach and fits everything you would ever need. And since it is reversible it will go with almost everything I’m packing. And it rolls up to be tiny, taking up hardly any room in the suitcase. Pretty sweet!

Want to know what else is pretty sweet? I twisted my sisters’ arms and convinced them to create a custom-designed ModlyChic bag for a giveaway! It’s about time I rewarded all you lovely MC readers. Thanks for sticking around, encouraging me, leaving comments and creating a community. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you. They created this one: (It’s unique, one-of-a-kind and won’t be sold on the Etsy store.)

Want to win the bag? It’s pretty simple… leave a comment below. You have until May 22. You commenter will be chosen at random to receive the tote. (And if you love them and want to purchase a tote for yourself, your best friend, daughter, mother, babysitter, boyfriend’s sister check out the shop and place your order. I know my sisters will appreciate it. Huh… maybe I should charge them commission.)

Let’s hope I get to see a lot of sun. it is northern California and that isn’t exactly the warm spot. But it will be better than rainy Boston for sure.

Love your new haircut! Very chic.

Also love the bag. I am a huge fan of large, washable canvas bags for travel.

I’ve always liked the idea of hobo bags (I have 3 currently but they’re all pretty small), but it hasn’t been until recently that I’ve learned how they can really look good! I would LOVE this bag to add to my small, but growing, collection! I looked through the Etsy shop and I may just get one whether I win or not. Thanks for the introduction!
