Friend Friday: Color Wars

This is an exciting day for me and for Fashion/Beauty Friend Friday. We have our first sponsor get behind one of our question sets! Who amazing is that?! We Love Colors, the amazing tight retailer, supplied a number of the FBFF bloggers with a pair of bold tights to try and work into their wardrobe. I had fun trying to get these funky mint green tights to work with my 30 for 30 clothing items, without looking like a clown.

1. What color dominates your closet? Black, black and more black. Oh with a little gray mixed in.

2. If money weren’t an issue how would you change the color emphasis in your closet? I think I’d go color crazy, if money really weren’t an issue. I think I’ve gone with black and gray so much because they are easy to wear together and then easy to add accessories to. But if I could blow a bunch of money I’d get bright colorful dresses, skirts and tops with coordinating shoes! Oh-la-la!!

3. What is your mantra about mixing colors? For the Winter/Fall months I’m still trying to incorporate color into the mix. But for Spring and Summer, when I do a lot more bright pieces, I try to keep things in the same color family – meaning blue toned or yellow toned. I shy away from mixing the two categories and so I’ll very rarely attempt that. It works well for me.

4. For you, how do you incorporate color into your outfits? I like to add in colorful accessories. I’ve got a couple bright rings and some great scarves. Those are the easiest way to have color without being overwhelmed with color. I also love colored tights and need to start wearing more of the colors that I have in my possession and always seem to forget about.

5. Which blogger(s) do you think do a good job of incorporating color into their wardrobe? Suze obviously is a color queen! Kendi does a great job of combining colors I would not normally think go together. I’m always amazed at how well the things go together.

This was a great topic for me, as I’ve been working on getting bolder with my color-mixing lately – and I completely cracked up when I saw how we used almost exactly the same language to describe the over-abundance of black in our wardrobes! Great minds think alike, no? You can read my full post on color here.

I think the way you’ve worn these awesomely minty tights looks great – I especially think it was a good choice to go with the white boots, a darker shoe might’ve been too high-contrast.

Loving the green! I love them with that dress. It’s the perfect amount of color to add to it. I love We Love Colors! I have already purchased 3 pairs of tights from them, and I’m thinking I need more (if only I could drive down to their shop and pick them up…since they are in Miami, haha!). I love how the mint tights change this outfit completely–they give it a funky touch without looking the least bit clown-like, you’re right. And I agree about colorful accessories–you can’t beat that as an affordable way to add color!

Hi sweetheart, you look so beautiful! I love the tights:) I once wore bright red ones dancing flamenco at a show, and after seing the pics I shan`t be repeating that one, BUT I did feel on fire in them lol. I think you did a great job with these mint colored tights, which must be really hard to wear, but I think the light colored booties was the perfect shoe to wear with them.

So excited that it’s my first FBFF! I love green and I love tights but I am nowhere near brave enough to try this look! I have purple tights that I’m trying to make myself wear, but I’m stumped on what to wear them with. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to start looking at more blogs for ideas…

Great answers, too. I also have a LOT of black, and grey. They’re easier to mix and match! But I also think I’m more appealed to neutral colors. I don’t get tired of black and grey, but I do get tired of pink, blue, purple, etc. If money wasn’t a problem, maybe I would be more attracted to color.
