Back in the day

I swear I am almost done with these extra posts from before the haircut. I’m going to post the rest this weekend which will finish the storage of photos I have and get me caught up to the numbers that so many of the other 30 for 30 challengers are on. I’m behind. This is outfit 17 of 30.

I think this outfit was a good idea but maybe not pulled off correctly. The button-down shirt works well under this blue dress. And I wanted to add a pop of color so I went with the bold yellow belt. I think the belt was what messed up this look. It made me look bigger on top and bottom thanks to the position of the belt, its size and the extra material that is already part of the dress. If I were to remake this look I’d lose the belt, opting for a skinny belt instead and maybe try my white booties instead of the tall gray ones.

Tomorrow Fashion/Beauty Friend Friday is launching it’s first ever Blogger awards! Each participating FBFF member will nominate his/her favorite blog in 10 different categories. From those nominations the voting will begin. I can’t wait to see all the blogs mentioned. Now I need to work on my post. Want to participate? Join the FBFF Google Group.

Tip: When belting an item, take into account how blousy the top is and what that will do to your proportions.

Belts are so tough. I have a really long torso but am also really short, so most of the times, belting just makes me look shorter and a bit frumpy. I have found for myself that layering a cardigan and buttoning it just at the waist works better for me.
I do like it with the boots though.

I don’t like the dress over the shirt – flattens out your chest and makes it lose shape. I almost would have preferred the shirt over the dress I think, and a skinnier belt. :) Love the boots though!

I really like the idea of the outfit, but I personally think that a more structured dress with wider straps would have looked better, and then your belt would be perfect! It is a lovely dress though, and I would love to see it with a softer blouse underneath.

This is really cute! I have the same shirt in another color palette and have been wanting to try it under a dress. You’ve inspired me–I’ll do it next week.

This is a cute look on you and I think that if you had a honeysuckle pink fuschia belt it would of worked and it wouldn’t of had to have been a skinny belt because the color would be slightly darker then the yellow. Maybe navy boots with the ensemble.

Too funny, because I was thinking that if I re-did this look I would use my skinny pink belt instead. Great minds think alike.

The gray boots are amazing. I have practically lived in them since getting them at the start of winter. And they are unbelievably comfortable, which is obviously a mega bonus.
