I’ve been in a serious dress mood lately. It seems like everything I gravitate towards is a dress of some sort. And of course, it is a black dress, since I have a few of those sitting in my closet.
Oh and let’s welcome these black boots to the closet! I was searching for a pair of tall, flat black boots for months. Since I am an awful size 11 (UGH!) it is very hard to find nice shoes at any local shoe stores or in the malls. In fact most department stores don’t even carry 11s in stock. What’s up with that? So after a lot of online searching and many desperate in-store attempts, I found this pair of Jessica Simpson boots on Amazon! This was a Eureka moment if every there was one. They are the perfect height and oh so comfortable to walk around in all day long. I think you are about to see these boots as often as you see the gray ones.
And with this purchase I am calling a buying hold for the next 6 months. A shopping diet, if you will. I’m going to dub 2011 – the year of thrifty living. So, no new purchases for me until the end of June. But that doesn’t mean I won’t be attending clothing swaps and hoping some people are nice enough to buy me clothes (ahem MOM) or exchange with me. The decision has a two-fold purpose. One – I want to see if I can be creative enough to mix and match without buying new. Which will also mean getting a little crafty to make some old things appear new. Two – I’ve got this horrible student loan and a little credit card bill hanging over me and instead of paying the minimum monthly payments I’d like to try and tackle that. If it goes well, I might extend it for a year, or update a little at the end of June and then begin again. We’ll see how it goes. As a disclaimer: I would just like to say that I don’t actually spend that much on clothing each month. But being more diligent with my fashion spending will also help me be more diligent with my other spending too. So hopefully I’ll be more frugal in every part of my life.
Tip: Don’t settle for something that is alright, search till you find the perfect piece that you were looking for.

I love flat boots, those are great. I am desperate for a navy leather pair ( hard to find) I love heels but they’re not practical for my life right now. Have you taken part in Dressember and/or Frocking Friday?
