Keeping the responses short and simple this week. Also it just so happened, this week’s theme is Holiday Party attire and outfit 29 for Kendi’s 30 for 30 Challenge was my party dress.
1. Which holiday party are you looking forward to attending this year? When I worked in New York the month of December was insane with the number of holiday parties that filled nearly every day of that month. I would go directly from work to one or two parties, depending upon the event and the need to be seen. But now that I’m out of that scene the work parties have tapered off. In terms of fun parties, I’m looking forward to a blogger holiday meet-up. And I had a great time at the Christmas party we threw here at the Residence.
2. What is your go-to holiday party outfit? I go simple. Black dress, pair of tights and a great pair of heels. It’s simple, easy to plan on and looks perfect for nearly every occasion. Depending on the type of event I might switch up the type of black dress. (See my outfit for the Christmas Party I went to last week below.)

3. Do you go dressed in something that would be impractical to wear at any other time of the year? Not usually. Although, this year I have been eying a sequin-covered blue skirt. There is something about it that draws me in every time I see it in the window. But since I can only think of two, maybe three events I could wear it to I think I’m going to be good and say no for now.
4. If you are going to a house-party what gift will you bring to the host/hostess? That depends on the type of house party. A good bottle of wine is always nice, even if it is not used that day. I also like making a family recipe called Christmas Dirt or cream cheese press cookies, so I usually end up bringing something like that.
5. If you could buy only one trendy piece to update your holiday party wardrobe, what would you get this year? Well beyond that blue sequin skirt… I think I would go with a pair of those glitter-covered shoes that are everywhere right now. I saw this pair at DSW the other day and almost broke down and bought them.

Wow, I can't belive I'm the first one!
My Christmas is going to be quite low key and laid back. Like you work parties have tapered off for me off late. I think you should buy the shoes!
I loved this week's questions!!!
We all want sparkly skirts it seems.
Love the shoes. Also, that is a great simple holiday outfit.
That is soo funny that I went after the same type of shoes in my response! LOL. This is the first year that I have absolutely no parties to go to, but that's okay! Sometimes you need low key holidays!
The glittery heels out right now are so adorable! What woman doesn't want to sparkle?

Those glitter shoes are great. I don't think I could even walk in them but I sure would wear them while I sat and looked pretty. I totally encourage you to get them so I can live vicariously through your sartorial purchase
love anything glittery so those shoes are gorgeous but there is nothing i could do with that heel!
i too like to keep it simple and you can never go wrong with dress like the black one you wore.
Mmmm, sparkles. Love those shoes! Also, good job on being so close to the end of 30×30!
I agree with all the previous comments: Wine and sequins seem to be the theme of 2010. I'm dying to buy a sequin dress, but I can't see myself ever wearing it outside of my bedroom.
Shoes were my accessory that I would pick too!
Fun topic! I'm also going with a little black dress paired with fancy tights & cool shoes
Shine is the thing for the holidays!
I love your hat! I have a silly glittery pink one that I've worn to parties before. And the glitter shoes look perfect for New Year's Eve, they are so sooo tempting!
Oh man! Even the hairband I chose has a shine to it. Love the Friend Friday idea, thank you!
this is random and unrelated, but are you related to that girl in your photo? this is the second time she's turned up. i went to high school with her and it's SO random to see her on your blog
hooray for the black dress – and get the shoes! it's totally worth it, and you'll find other places to wear them, i promise.
I can't wait to read everyone's responses. Such fun questions this week!
I'm kind of a lameazoid — scientists party in jeans and flannel shirts and the like.
found you via kendi everyday! glad i did. cute blog and thinking about joining this group – looks like a fun one.
p.s. love your tights! fun fun!
Really liking the pattern of your tights! Such a fun and different way to dress up a basic black.
My Christmas will be cozy and not a lot of big gatherings.
I have some tights similar to the ones you have on in your pic.
The shoes are very pretty, they would look great on you.
I like the questions you came up with for this week! I have had my eyes on this glittery style heels for a while, they'd be such a great New Year's shoe!
That pair of shoes from DSW is super cute – I want to be an enabler and tell you to get them!
A fellow follower, Lori, turned me onto your blog. love the Q&A!! And love the tights!!! I'm into funky tights as well.
I really like those tights.
great questions! love it and your outfit. I think i added my link correctly, though I'm not quite sure.
i saw those pumps the other day and almost bought them too!! so impractical but for that one or two outfits a year they would be perfection!
I was tempted to buy those glitterd Steve Maddens at Ross Dress for Less for only $24 bucks. Passed because I bought some red strappy pumps instead (online). Now thinking I should go back and get them. Hmmm…
